Parental Consent

What is parental consent for?
Fudge & Gandol uses AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs) to personalize stories, generate character art, and coach writing. You approve each provider before features that rely on it will work. Consent is account-wide and covers every child profile.
Manage consent
How do I set it up?
On first run, parent setup walks you through two quick steps: review and approve AI providers, then set a parent passcode. Tick the providers you're comfortable with, confirm you're the parent or guardian and have read the privacy policy, then tap Confirm.
Open consent setup
Can I change my mind later?
Yes. Open Settings → Privacy dashboard any time to grant or revoke a provider. Revoking disables the features that depend on it, but never deletes work already created.
Open the Privacy dashboard
What is the parent passcode?
A code (6+ digits) that protects Parent controls so only you can change parental settings. You set it during account setup using a one-time code we email you. Forgot it? Use “Forgot passcode?” on the unlock screen to reset it by email.

Sharing

What can my child share?
Custom characters and finished stories. They're shared as live, read-only references — the recipient always sees the latest version and can never edit it. Nothing is ever public to strangers.
Who can they share with?
Two groups: Family — sibling profiles on your own account (no approval needed) — and Friends — profiles on other accounts, which require a confirmed friendship first. Each share is directed: only the profiles you pick can see it.

How does a friendship get confirmed?
Both children must independently add each other (by username, QR code, or an /add link). A one-sided add does nothing and sends no notification. Then both parents approve from Parent controls before any content can flow.
Add a friend
Step by step: how do two kids add each other?
  1. Each child opens the Friends tab and taps Add a friend.
  2. If prompted, pick a sharing name (an @name) so friends can find you.
  3. Add in person — one taps My code to show a QR code, the other taps Scan — or type the friend's @name and tap Add.
  4. On their profile, tap Add friend. You'll see “Added.”
  5. The other child must add you back. Once both have, it shows “Waiting for a grown-up.”
Add a friend
Step by step: how do parents approve? (both sides)
  1. The grown-up on each child's account does this on their own device — both families must approve.
  2. Open the Parent area and enter the parent passcode.
  3. Under Kids' Connections, find the pending request and tap Approve (or Deny).
  4. After one parent approves, the request still shows “You approved” while waiting for the other family.
  5. Only once both grown-ups approve do the children become Confirmed Friends and can share. If either side denies, the connection is blocked.
Open Parent controls
Step by step: how do I share a story?
  1. Open the Stories tab and tap a book to open it.
  2. Tap Share with friends.
  3. Tick the friends or family you want and tap Share with…, or turn on Share with everyone to share with all confirmed friends and family.
  4. To stop sharing later, reopen the dialog and tap Revoke next to a name.
How do I stop sharing?
The sharer can revoke any share at any time from the share dialog — access drops immediately. A parent can also unfriend or block an account, which instantly revokes every share between the two accounts.

Where does shared content show up?
For the recipient, under the “Borrowed” section of the Cards tab (characters) and the Stories tab (stories). A shared story shows an unread badge that clears once it's opened.
